Notes from the 5x7 Committee: A group of guests might consider getting together to bid on several items, such as the Morroccan Dinner for Eight and the Cocktail party for Twenty, both to be held in the donors' homes, the Painting Party for up to 10 people at TCAG's Art Education Center, or a Chili Dinner for 16 in your home.
l. MOROCCAN DINNER FOR EIGHT – Bruce and Eleanor Knowles are pleased to open their gracious home on scenic College Creek, and offer an evening of good cheer and good food...the good company part is up to you! Enjoy drinks and hors d’oeuvres while taking in the Knowles’ eclectic collections, the more notable being their impressive array of Asian antiquities. Though the surrounds hint at the Orient, the multi-course dinner will have Moroccan overtones! Chopsticks are out, tagines are in!
2. COCKTAIL PARTY FOR TWENTY offered by Margaret and Sean Driscoll and Pamela and Monty Mason – The Driscoll home is one of Williamsburg’s most elegant residences and will create a sense that you and your guests have been transported from Williamsburg for a night in “the big city”. The home was built in 1957 on property received from John D. Rockefeller, Jr. And the design was inspired by architectural plans that won a 1932 design competition. The elegant entry with Marble floors leads to a sunken living room and a breathtaking curvilinear window that overlooks the garden terrace and fountain. Hand painted Zuber wallpaper enlivens the dining room. Vivid paint colors showcase family portraits, heirloom antiques, collections and artwork. This home was recently a highlight of the Historic Garden Week in Virginia gardens and homes.
