About the Art:
I knew I wanted an "all-over" design and immediately thought of William
Morris, and this led to an Art Nouveau theme. I decided on black
and white because it is in keeping with Art Nouveau,
has the most contrast, and fits well with the musical theme - tuxedoes,
keyboard, notes on paper, etc.
The winning raffle ticket for this violin was drawn on
November 10, 2004.
About the Artist:
Earning a B.F.A. from Salisbury State College (Magna Cum Laude) in 1985, Lynn has attended workshops with Robert Wade,
Phillip MacLeod Coupe (Lake District in England), Katherine Chang Liu, and Alex Powers. After college she started with
portraits, explored small-scale landscapes, and while recognizing a tendency to keep "zooming-in" on the subject, was
always striving for content. She has participated in juried shows nationally and internationally and has taught drawing
and watercolor classes throughout the area. An active volunteer in the arts community, Lynn has served as board member
for the Virginia Watercolor Society (president 2002-2003) and This Century Art Gallery.
