ABOUT THE ARTIST

Inspired by the beauty of nature, Frances considers herself a realistic painter, isolating and enlarging natural forms in her paintings. Transparent watercolor is her medium of choice, occasionally acrylic paint is used in combination with watercolor. Many of her works reflect her love of flowers, especially the roses and irises from her garden.

Frances has enjoyed watercolor painting since childhood although she did not pursue painting seriously until 1997 when she retired from her interior design business in Northern Virginia and moved to Williamsburg. Since then she has studies with Ann Murphy Armstrong and Barclay Sheaks, and she has attended workshops by Don Andrews, Janet Walsh, and Christopher Schink.

Frances’ works can be seen at the Prince George Art and Frame gallery or by appointment in her home studio in Williamsburg.
